Hulton Road Closure
Beginning on Monday, August 17th, PennDOT plans to close Hulton Road between Eastern Avenue and Morath Lane for landslide remediation and GRS slope reconstruction. Work is expected to last through Monday, September 7th. The ongoing repair locations on Hulton (Hulton at Indiana and Hulton at Old Hulton in Penn Hills, Hulton at Kirk Dr in Plum, and Hulton at Allegheny River Blvd in Oakmont) will be completed prior to the start of this project.
I-376 Commercial Street Bridge to Reopen Early
Following the successful installation of the new Commercial Street Bridge, PennDOT anticipates reopening I-376 next week, earlier than the original August 3 date. The exact reopening date depends on weather conditions.

Penn Hills Community Park – Sanitary Sewer Replacement
The Borough of Oakmont will be beginning a sanitary sewer line replacement project through Penn Hills Community Park on Wednesday, July 22. Work on the project will be Monday through Friday, from 7am to 3pm, until completion. The park and ball fields will remain open during the project. Please check back for updates as they become available.
Movie in the Park – Rescheduled
Due to air quality concerns, tonight’s (7/17/26) ‘Movie in the Park’ at Turner-Friendship Park has been rescheduled to Friday, September 18.
Road Closure – Hulton Rd
Hulton Road between Iowa Street and Relative Drive will be closed temporarily due to downed trees and electrical lines. Once Duquesne Light clears the electrical lines, PennDot will clear the trees and re-open Hulton Road. There will be no Emergency Vehicle Access on that stretch of Hulton until the problem is cleared. Thank you for your time and understanding.
Trash pick-up Delays
Republic Waste has decided to delay all Friday routes that were not completed and all Monday routes that were not completed until their next service day. When those routes get recovered, all trash will be taken at that time. We thank you for your patience and understanding while we sort through these rough times.
July 20th 2026, Council Meeting
A council meeting is currently scheduled for Monday, July 20th 2026, at 7:00 PM in the Penn Hills Municipal Building’s Council Chambers.
PennDOT Traffic Alert – Hulton Road
PennDOT will begin slide repair work on Hulton Road (Route 2058) in Penn Hills on Wednesday, July 15, weather permitting.
Traffic Impact: Beginning at 9:00 a.m., single-lane alternating traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals will be in place on Hulton Road between Indiana Road and Colgan Terrace. This traffic pattern will remain in effect around the clock through early August.
Please allow extra travel time, use caution in the work zone, and check current road conditions at 511PA before traveling.
Traffic Update: I-376 (Parkway East) – Edgewood & Swissvale
Motorists should expect traffic pattern changes on South Braddock Avenue and the westbound I-376 Exit 77 off-ramp through early August as part of the ongoing Parkway East improvement project.
To assist with the flow of traffic as part of the detour route for the Commercial Street Bridge closure and to allow crews to continue to work on the I-376 bridge overhead, South Braddock Avenue is now in the following traffic configuration around-the-clock through early August…..
Traffic Changes:
- Southbound South Braddock Avenue: Reduced to one lane between Allenby Avenue and Monongahela Avenue.
- Northbound South Braddock Avenue: Two lanes remain open between Monongahela Avenue and Allenby Avenue.
- Westbound I-376 Exit 77 (Edgewood/Swissvale)
- Left lane – Left turn onto southbound South Braddock Avenue.
- Right lane – Right turn only onto northbound South Braddock Avenue. No left turns are permitted from the right lane.
These changes are in place to support the Commercial Street Bridge detour and overhead bridge work on I-376.
Please allow extra travel time and use caution in the work zone. All work is weather dependent.
